Tired of the photos from Key West? I could not help myself because of the contrast in the weather there and the weather here. It was a choice of whether your weather preferences are balmy, mid- 70s or blah, mid-30s.
These are of a pelican at feeding time and are a sequence of the action. I did incorporate shots from more than one feeding.
I did find it interesting to click on the first picture and then hit the right arrow key on the keyboard, which will give an impression of a film strip with the pelican in flight.

We walked around the harbor area and one of the beaches in Key West to take in the some of the sights. It was quite crowded that day and later in the afternoon, two cruise ship left Key West to point unknown, Most of the passengers stay around the old harbor area and Mallory Point, where there are plenty of restaurants, the bars, and tourist trap shops.
Following these is a Hopscotching Pelican, an Anhinga bird, which has fascinated me, a little Barracuda, a big Mannati, and child's sand sculpture being attacked by the surf.
All in all, it was a fabulous day, as was the whole time there.

Today's pictures are from the Key West Garden Club, which was used during the Civil and Spanish American Wars. It is in disrepair and was going to be demolished until the garden club took it over. The name of the facility is the East Martello Tower and Fort.
There foliage was limited, most likely due to Hurricane Irma and the time of year. There are a number of Cacti and yes, I did back into one while taking a photo. The photo was not sharp, but the cactus was.
The sixth picture is a close-up of the culprit. The remaining pictures are of a tree truck, which looks ominous, some of the existing structure of the fort, and a couple of plants.

I am putting the photos from Key West in 2017 for two
reasons. First, that is when they were
taken and, secondly, I am in the process of deciding on continuing posting in
both the Blog and on Facebook or just on Facebook.
The Big Question... Are you on Facebook? Let me know by "replying" by to the E-mail that I sent.
We
went kayaking and went in a mangrove, a main channel, and in a canal
lined with homes. There were some brown pelican and white pelicans
there. I did not know that they perched in trees.

Happy New Year!
I am about to receive payback... Today, we head back from Key West to Cumming, GA. From 70 degree temperatures to mid 30 temperatures. Karma... Bah Humbug!
Here is the last sunset from Key West for 2017. Click on the picture for a better look at the sun rays shining through the clouds.
Some would say, "Beam me up, Scotty" and others can say, "Even so come, Lord Jesus!"

The first three pictures show some of the effects of Hurricane Irma, which hit the hardest on Pine Key above Key West. I saw the tree from a distance and it looked as if it were a very tall Christmas tree with the bottom branches removed. The branches were removed... by the hurricane. Someone put a silver star on top of the tree and based on that it is next to a fire station, we think we know who did it.
The third picture is of a house that the hurricane demolished, but the houses to either side were not affected. Some houses were build to withstand hurricanes and some were not.
Trash removal still has a long way to go. As they remove trash along side of the road, there is more there the next day. The holidays has interfered with the process. I believe that part of the problem is, "Who pays for it?" Local, State, or Federal governments...
The forth photo is of a Palm tree that was not damaged. I like the contrast in the photo and it is a picture of hope.
The last two pictures is the view at which I am looking as I type. I am sitting at the table on the right.
I will not tell you that I woke up at 5:30 to 71 degrees and a slight breeze. Back to reality on Tuesday.
