December 31, 2017

Tired of the photos from Key West?  I could not help myself because of the contrast in the weather there and the weather here.  It was a choice of whether your weather preferences are balmy, mid- 70s or blah, mid-30s.

These are of a pelican at feeding time and are a sequence of the action.  I did incorporate shots from more than one feeding.

I did find it interesting to click on the first picture and then hit the right arrow key on the keyboard, which will give an impression of a film strip with the pelican in flight.

December 31, 2017

We walked around the harbor area and one of the beaches in Key West to take in the some of the sights.  It was quite crowded that day and later in the afternoon, two cruise ship left Key West to point unknown,  Most of the passengers stay around the old harbor area and Mallory Point, where there are plenty of restaurants, the bars, and tourist trap shops.

Following these is a Hopscotching Pelican, an Anhinga bird, which has fascinated me, a little Barracuda, a big Mannati, and child's sand sculpture being attacked by the surf.

All in all, it was a fabulous day, as was the whole time there.

December 31, 2017

Today's pictures are from the Key West Garden Club, which was used during the Civil and Spanish American Wars.  It is in disrepair and was going to be demolished until the garden club took it over.  The name of the facility is the East Martello Tower and Fort.

There foliage was limited, most likely due to Hurricane Irma and the time of year.  There are a number of Cacti and yes, I did back into one while taking a photo.  The photo was not sharp, but the cactus was.

The sixth picture is a close-up of the culprit.  The remaining pictures are of a tree truck, which looks ominous, some of the existing structure of the fort, and a couple of plants.

December 31, 2017

I am putting the photos from Key West in 2017 for two reasons.  First, that is when they were taken and, secondly, I am in the process of deciding on continuing posting in both the Blog and on Facebook or just on Facebook.

The Big Question... Are you on Facebook?  Let me know by "replying" by to the E-mail that I sent.

We went kayaking and went in a mangrove, a main channel, and in a canal lined with homes.  There were some brown pelican and white pelicans there.  I did not know that they perched in trees.

After, we had lunch at The Stoned Crab and they were not that original with their signage.  I wondered what Chick-Fil-A would think about it.  The did have some small sharks swimming around in the water, but the water was too murky to get a picture of them.
