We went to Amicalola Falls Saturday afternoon with friends and were surprised to find that quite a number of people had the same idea, considering that there was pack snow/ice on the road where the threes hindered the sun from melting the snow.
Definitely not as beautiful as other times of the year when there is foliage but, non the less, is can be found. It was sunny, the sky was as blue as the photos reveal, and the temperature was cold... 28 degrees. When we were on the bridge below the falls, the wind was of no effect, but when we were at the top of the fall... WOW! It had an effect.
There are two, actually three trails to the falls. The first two pictures are of the West Trail, which is accessible by driving up to the side of the falls, parking, and taking a comfortable walk to the falls. The second is to walk up to the falls from the bottom, and the third, which has no picture, is to walk down to the falls from the top. There are 425 steps down and then back up on this trail. Guess which trail we took.
wow, those stairs look scary, icy, snowy and dangerous! yikes... but the water fall pics are awesome
