October 10, 2017

We were about 7 to 10 days early for the foliage in New Hampshire so we took a side trip to Bar Harbor, Maine for two days.  Yes, it is pronounced 'Bah Hah-Ba.'

Ironically, as is the case, the foliage is many places started to 'pop' overnight and we got to see some of what we expected.  It was kind of like the weather there... If you do not like the weather, wait ten minutes and it will change.

On the way to Bar Harbor, we stopped at the GPS company Garmon, which purchased Delorne; the map making company, to see Eartha, one humongous globe.  See the following link.

I found the chain and the buoy picture as we walked around Northside Harbor.  The sunrises are from Cadillac Mountain and from the Lighthouse at Bass Harbor on the mornings that we were there.

Quiz Time....

This is the Rexall Drug Store in Bar Harbor, Maine.  The fountain service is still active, although we got there at closing time.

The Quiz:  What is anachronistic in this photo?  What would not be there 'back in the day.'

I have not had time to post pictures, but will very soon.

Today's pictures were taken as we traveled the Kancamagus Highway.  The foliage was not at the peak, however, there were some vibrant spots here and there.  It is a great ride anytime of the year.  There is a covered bridge near the east end of the highway, which we missed.

We are in New Hampshire to take pictures of the foliage, which is NOT...  We are early for this year's peak season, which varies from year to year.  I spoke with a lady who said that the foliage will not be as bright and vibrant this year due to the hot weather this Summer and Fall.  But, there is always something waiting for a camera to appear.

Yesterday, we took a day trip to north to the eastern part of the White Mountains.  One of the pictures that I had on my list was Mt. Chocorua.  Fifty, yes '50' years ago, prior to our marriage, Linda and I took this same day trip and I have some pictures taken with a Canon AE1 camera at home.  I am going to try to post them when we return to Georgia.

For years, I have thought about this scene and always expected that this field had a big home on it.  I am thankful for the little blessings of life.  I still get chills thinking about it.

We were in downtown Manchester, NH yesterday afternoon were shown Cat Alley.  The plague is a history of it.

I enjoy sanctioned, quality, and tasteful graffiti.  The obnoxious, defacing garbage speaks to the mindset of the one with the spray can.

Here is a sampling.

These are flowers the Linda has on our front porch, which I moved on the the lawn.  I put them in different spots to get the sun to light them up differently.  I did push back the 'shadow slider' to darken the area not lit by the sun so the flowers would stand out.

Only one picture today of a morning cloud as I drove to work.  The benefits of always having a camera with you.  Clouds are similar to what is said about snow flakes; "There are no two alike," although I have never been able to distinguish the difference between two snow flakes.
