April 4, 2017

I went to Okaloosa Island on the other side of Destin Harbor to take pictures of some dunes, which are posted and not accessible due to endangered species and the area where I was was posted by Eglin Air Force Base.  I do not get the relativity, but it is part of the government.

Dunes are fascinating in that they change as the wind, weather, and water have their effect on them.  Here, in the panhandle of Florida, the beach sand is very white and smooth.  When is it sunny the sand looks as if it was snow.

The water is very rough and the under current so great that going into the water was banned.  There was a rescue of two people that went into the water and could not get back to shore due to the under current.

  1. The kids must be bummed that they can't swim but when the flag is red, it's so dangerous as you know... great pics though! Hopefully today, you'll get the green light [so to speak] to swim!
