April 12, 2017

With the exception of the first two pictures, which are of where we stayed, the others are from the morning that we departed to go home. The picture of the posts in the sand fascinate me.  I am searching to know the story behind them.  I have come up with a few of my own stories; was there once a pier in this location or was there a house that set on top of them?

All in all, it was great to be there with Stephanie, Jack, and Ben.  Our unit was on the first level; second in from the left.

April 8, 2017

We are home from our trip to Destin, FL to  a 38 degree temperature this morning.  ON the bright side, I had a trial version of a post processing software waiting for me.  I quickly went through some of the features and found one that interested me greatly.  Ever have a hazy picture?

When we were in Ireland last June, we were at the Cliffs of Moher, viewing it from the top-side.  A couple of days, we took a boat ride to view it from the water.  Apart from my motion sickness medicine not working, it was worth it.  Many of the pictures had haze and the first picture shows a shot right out of the camera.  The second picture has been processed with On 1 Develop 2017 software, using a feature for haze.  They have a 30-day trial available and the special price of $99.99 to purchase it.

April 7, 2017

The weather could have been better, but that is okay.  Our time with Stephanie, Jack, and Ben was great.  I had a mental list of some pictures that I wanted to take this week and the dunes was on the list (April 4, 2017).  Taking pictures, particularly landscapes, one has to take the 'hand that is dealt,' just like playing Apples to Apples or any game that uses cards.

The picture of the surf is from yesterday morning.  The pictures of Jack and Ben are from last evening.

April 5, 2017

The weather today has been 'yukky!'  I took a couple of picture early and had a little extra time to play with some photos at Ben's request.

The first picture is straight out of the camera.  The poles on the beach seem to be from on old pier and the third is of the surf.

The fourth picture was when they said 'head-hunter to me.  I thought they was a job offer in the future...  That is why we were smiling.

Did you know that Ben is not a Patriots fan???  That will teach him!

By the way, I have a 'Falcons APP on my phone... No Ring.

I also have a Patriots APP on my phone...  Guess what???  I have 5 Rings from which to choose!

April 4, 2017

I went to Okaloosa Island on the other side of Destin Harbor to take pictures of some dunes, which are posted and not accessible due to endangered species and the area where I was was posted by Eglin Air Force Base.  I do not get the relativity, but it is part of the government.

Dunes are fascinating in that they change as the wind, weather, and water have their effect on them.  Here, in the panhandle of Florida, the beach sand is very white and smooth.  When is it sunny the sand looks as if it was snow.

The water is very rough and the under current so great that going into the water was banned.  There was a rescue of two people that went into the water and could not get back to shore due to the under current.

April 3, 2017

We are in Destin, Fl with Stephanie, Jack, and Ben.  We traveled through some heavy rains as a storm system rolled across the southeast.  The water was very rough and the Red Flag, which indicates dangerous currents, was flying until about 6:00 pm.

Ben was the brave one.  He was in the water for over an hour.  The sun finally appeared at the end.

April 2, 2017

Two different themes today.  First, on the first day of April my camera said to me... Let's go!  Already, we have had Daffodils, Tulips, Forsythias, Red Bud and Cherry trees, as some others in bloom.  Today, it was Azaleas and Dogwood, all of which are ahead of us in North Georgia compared to south of Atlanta.

Secondly, my photo challenge for the this month is Geometric Shapes.  In Cumming, GA, Automated Direct built an addition with an unusually shaped window.  They also fly a very large flag.  Three things of note, the flag is 'photoshopped' on to the window, of which one had the opacity down to give it the impression of a reflection, and lastly, note the different geometric shapes in the window; triangles, polygons, and rectangles.  I could justify a square and I do not know what shape the window itself is.  Is Chevron a shape?  How about a Concave Obtuse Triangle???

Do not forget to click on a picture to enlarge them.
